HEATED RIVALRY: GAY HOCKEY ACTION FIGURES
Some of the best creative work happens when culture gives you an opening and you move fast.
After watching Heated Rivalry on HBO, I couldn't stop thinking about how hot and beautiful this love story was. Along with showing gay people in a sport absolutely not associated with anything LGBTQ. I thought about how wonderful it is to have representation in that sport period.
And because lots of gay people (myself included) may have or may not have made their Barbies kiss. I made some toys!
Gay hockey action figures, created with Midjourney and finished in Photoshop. Playful, proud, joyful. The kind of thing that should have existed already. That's what I love about AI as a creative tool - the ability to respond to a cultural moment in real time, to make the thing you wish existed before the conversation moves on. These aren't documentation. They're imagination. A version of the world where queer athletes don't just exist quietly - they're celebrated, collectible, iconic.
This is what timely creative work looks like now. You watch something, you feel something, you make something. Fast.
